Before commissioning a corporate website, define its purpose, content structure and deliverables. Interface design and website development are different services. A proposal should identify the scope, owner and acceptance criteria for each.

What should the website help people do?

Browsing a product catalogue, understanding a service, requesting a quote and applying for a job require different journeys. Identify the main audience and the tasks they need to complete. Build navigation and the page list around those tasks.

Separate design from development

Design may include user flows, desktop and mobile screens, components and a prototype. Development may include code, a content management system, integrations and hosting configuration. A Figma file is not a working website, and a prototype is not a functioning payment or contact system.

What should the proposal specify?

  • Page templates, languages and mobile scope.
  • Responsibility for copy, product data, photography and translation.
  • Forms, content management and third-party integrations.
  • Revision stages, approval ownership and handover files.
  • Domain, hosting, maintenance, licence and support costs.
  • Accessibility, mobile usability and technical SEO checks before launch.

How should you assess cost and timing?

Compare scope rather than an unsupported starting price. The number of unique templates, readiness of content, integrations and feedback rounds affect both cost and timing. Agree who will supply missing content and when it is due.

What should you look for in a portfolio?

Review the RBS and Hospitra web interface designs, or PEDAŞ LED for product communication. These are design examples. Do not infer development responsibility, live operation or commercial results from visuals alone; verify the relevant role separately.

What should be tested before launch?

Check navigation, links, successful and failed form submissions, page titles, canonical URLs and language annotations. Analytics should distinguish a button click from a request accepted by the server. Personal form content should not be sent to analytics.
