When choosing a designer on a freelance platform, consider project fit as well as ratings and price. Evaluate the portfolio, deliverables and communication process together.

Prepare a comparable demand first

In the job description you will write to the platform, specify the target, submissions, uses, and ready content. A logo request is not the same as a request for logo, corporate identity, and social media applications. If you do not share the same brief with the candidates you are considering, you will not be able to tell whether the price difference is due to experience or scope.

Look for the near problem in the portfolio

It may be useful to have worked in your industry, but it is not the only selection measure. See how the candidate solves a similar information intensity, production constraint, or user task. A beautiful restaurant poster does not prove the experience of managing a complex product catalog alone. Ask a sample business to describe the decision process.

Define a small and paid start

Before the big job, a certain stage can be planned. For example, agree on a cover and a representative product page without having the entire catalog prepared. Discuss its fee if this work includes actual labor. The measure of success, the number of revisions, and when the attendance decision is to be made should be written from the beginning. An indefinite free trial is not a good basis for measuring the quality of the business relationship.

Compare post-delivery

The editable file, the terms of use of the used fonts and visuals, additional adaptation and support coverage should be part of the offer. Read the platform's current payment and dispute rules from its own help center; do not rely on commission or protection information on an old blog. Note not only the total cost but also the exposed work in the final decision so that you can see how many separate purchases the seemingly cheap offer requires later.
